4. Tap Delete Account at the bottom of the page

| Data | Why it is kept | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Messages you sent in chats, shown as from an otter who has left | The conversation is the other otter's too | Until they delete the chatroom too, or 90 days after its last message, whichever comes first |
| The copy of your post or poll that a chatroom began from | So the other otter's chatroom stays whole | Until that chatroom is deleted |
| A sealed record: account ID, email, nickname, when you joined and left | So nobody can escape a report by deleting their account; no otter can see it | 12 months after you delete your account |
| Reports and reported content (including photos you sent, if you were reported) | To deal with reports and legal requests | 12 months from the report |
| Purchase records | Tax and accounting law | As long as the law requires |
Backups are cleared on their normal cycle. The full detail is in sections 8 and 9 of our Privacy Policy.
Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. Cancel it in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings.
